03.19.04 - Do I ever cross your mind, anytime? Do you ever wake up reaching out for me...

Candice and I took our first trip through York's underground "pedestrian passageway" today. It was quite an experience, and I must say that it brought back some of the scarier moments of Screemer's.

After my Latin oral exam, I met Candice in the west lobby of Vaniet College. We decide that we're going to kill some time, and she wanted to see what was downstairs, so we head down the stairs. In front of the staircase is a door that says "To Stedman Lecture Halls...(and 2 other places that escape me right now)". Stedman, while not too far away, is still a horrible, harsh walk outside in the brutal weather.

We enter the passageway. First of all, it had horrible lighting, and reminded me of either Silent Hill or Resident Evil...*shudder*. But I digress, by horrible lighting, I mean that the walls were a weird off-white like that of a mental institute or prison, and the lighting was fluorescent...you can imagine it, I hope. It smelled like weed...well, I thought it smelled like weed; Candice thought it smelled like piss. It was probably both. Anyway, the walls were filled with lots of graffiti, some of it was just a tad scary and concerned things about gangs and drugs and sex and murder and...er, you get the point, lol.

We passed by this door with a small glass window. Candice opened it only to find a small staircase with about 4 steps leading up to a door; There was a pair of chairs sitting right in front of it. It was like...I can't even describe how creepy it was, lol.

Nobody was using this passage aside from us, so the echos of our voices were scaring even us. It was so horrible and funny all at the same time. There was also this part in the tunnel where there was this crevice that had some kind of furnace or something; We were so apprehensive before we were to pass by it that we peered our heads around the corner first to make sure that there weren't any strange serial killers hiding there.

There were so many doors that seemed to lead to other parts of the passageway. Finally, we reached this staircase; We went up it and I was so nervous when I opened the door for some reason that I actually breathed a sigh of relief when I realized that we were actually in somewhere that was recognizable...Stedman.

*Whoo* So we're never doing that again. My heart can't handle it, lol.
